Three Gorges Dam Series on NPR

This week, National Public Radio's (NPR) Morning Edition is featuring a Gorges_200series on the impacts of the Three Gorges Dam on China's Yangtze River. The huge reservoir behind the dam should fill completely during 2008. It's about 375 miles long.

A few weeks ago we posted on the South-to-North Water Transfer Project whereby China would transfer water from the Three_gorges200 Yangtze River to the Yellow River to slake the thirst of China's north.

Anthony Kuhn is the series reporter. He traveled the length of the reservoir, visiting with the locals, and talking about the changes the dam has wrought.

Give it a listen.

PBS also has an interactive map illustrating China's top water issues. (Thanks to Abby's Water for the Ages blog!)
