Friend and colleague Bob Lackey, one of the best persons I know when it comes to plumbing the depths (hey, he's a fisheries biologist) of the science-policy interface, delivered the plenary address at the recent American Fisheries Society 141st Annual Meeting in Seattle. It's titled, Science: Beacon of Reality.
Bob also provided a bonus - this 2003 piece by John Sabotta, Blood Sacrifice to the Salmon God.
"Science is the great antidote to the poison of enthusiasm and superstition." - Adam Smith
