Director General. Boy, that sounds impressive, doesn't it? Better than Secretary General!
Well, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is looking for a Director General, so here is your chance to be a DG.
Here is a profile with information on how to apply:
Here is more information. Note that the deadline is 30 November 2011.
Yesterday I received an email inquiry from the search firm SRI mentioning that I had been highly recommended by a number of people, etc., etc., and could they call me to chat about my applying. I was a bit puzzled, as I am not inclined (as people know) to manage an organization with 12 offices on two continents (Africa and Asia) with a staff of 265. Besides, relocating to Colombo, Sri Lanka, is not high on my list.
Then I saw that the deadline was fast approaching, so perhaps a bit of desperation is starting to settle in at SRI.
Anyway, IWMI (pronounced ee-me) has a good reputation and I know several people who work at its Colombo headquarters. A previous DG, Dr. Frank Rijsberman, is now Director of WaSH at the Gates Foundation. The current DG is Dr. Colin Chartres.
I don't usually post position vacancies but this is something special. Better hurry, though.
