What's In a Word: Is the Word 'Sustainable' Unsustainable?

Sustainable

One of my favorite quotes about the word 'sustainable' is from a former colleague of mine at the University of New Mexico, economist David Brookshire. Each time someone would use the word 'sustainable' (or 'sustainability'), he would sarcastically utter:

"Which of the 32 definitions of 'sustainable' are you using today?"

Amen!
