Friend and former graduate school officemate Barney Popkin has wrapped up his trip to Philippines for the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Here is his one-pager:

He is back home in Tucson, Arizona. Here he is checking out a submersible pump.

In the short time we shared an office I probably learned more from him than from most of my professors. If you ever have a chance to go to a roast where he is the roaster, don't pass it up. He roasted mentor Sol Resnick at a UA reunion a number of years ago and had us all rolling in the aisles. And I suspect he would be a great roastee as well. He would not suffer in silence but would give as good (or better) as he got.
Barney also sent five 'seriocomic' reports that I have posted over at Campanastan. Read the first one, the second one, the third one, the fourth one and the last one. They showcase Barney's wit, sarcasm, and observational skills.
Talented guy.
