Several days ago I did a tongue-in-cheek post, What's In a Word: Is the Word 'Sustainable' Unsustainable? (see graph from xkcd).
Today, on Groundhog Day and World Wetlands Day, I tackle not the usage of the word, but the word itself. It is thrown around so much these days but it no doubt means different things to different people.
So I offer the following list of definitions, produced by my colleague David Brookshire, who did a web search years ago and came up with this document:
Download Sustainability_Definitions
I originally thought there were just 32 here; David says the number is closer to 64. But no Dave Barry.
Let the debate begin!
And think before you use it.
