How many times have you heard someone say, 'Oh, the plans for such-and-such were sketched on a cocktail napkin'?
Whether it was Herb Kelleher and Rollin King outlining the concept for Southwest Airlines in a San Antonio restaurant or Bill Lear conceiving his famous Learjet with a
sketch on a napkin, the world is full of such stories, some of which are no doubt urban legends.
Well, some entrepreneur has taken this one step further by providing napkins that encourage creativity:
These napkins are in the bar and restaurant of the NH Hotel (part of a Spanish chain) in Santiago, Chile, where I am currently staying.
The Spanish roughly translates as, 'Any place is good to begin a story.'
I am wondering whether this formalization of the creative process will dampen spontaneity. But it is worth a try - I already have a bunch to try to inspire me. So far, no inspiration save for the directions to a local restaurant.
I wonder if adult beverage consumption played any role?
So where was the idea for this napkin conceived? On a computer.
"If you put up half of the money, you get to make half of the decisions." - Bill Lear
