Sad to hear of Barry Commoner's death on 30 September. Here is an obituary from
the New York Times. The photo is by Ruby Washington from the NYT.
I read his book, The Closing Circle, as a first year graduate student in 1971. It had quite an effect on me.
It is worthwhile to recall his four informal rules of ecology:
1) Everything is connected to everything else
2) Everything must go somewhere
3) Nature knows best
4) There is no such thing as a free lunch
R.I.P., Barry.

Clicking on a link beginning with '@' will take you to that person's Twitter account; clicking on a link beginning with '#' will take you to a Twitter list containing Tweets about a particular topic. Some items may not have a hot link to a story, which is fine - it may have been just an informational item or a personal message to someone. Or, I may have screwed up and forgotten the link!
