Although the photo is faked, it does illustrate a good point: it was not too long ago that we were concerned with a new Ice Age descending upon us. I recall having in-class discussions about this when I was a geology major in the late 1960s.
And keep in mind, that some parts of the world may indeed suffer a 'new Ice Age' because of global warming. Sound goofy? See my earlier post and this one from NASA (where the graphic came from).
So we may be able to have it both ways.
