Today I am serving as a water panelist on a summit dealing with water, energy, and transportation infrastructure issues organized by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR). We will talk about state, regional, and national needs. Should be fun. The material (videos, etc.) should be up on the Congressman's WWW site in a week or so. The summit is based on the meeting held in DC last May, described below.
On 9 May 2008 America 2050 convened a meeting of leaders from all walks of life for a meeting to address the rebuilding and renewing of our aging infrastructure in the water, energy, and transportation sectors.
Here is the Water Roundtable panel discussion. I am not a classical infrastructure wonk but I found this very interesting. Panelists were: Betsy Otto from American Rivers; Sally Collins from the U.S. Forest Service; Steve Allbee from the U.S. EPA; and Kevin L. Shafer from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. Albert Appleton of New York City's Department of Environmental Protection moderated.
You can go to the meeting's home page to watch all the panels, plenary sessions, and addresses.
Here is the entire America 2050 prospectus.
