Last night 60 Minutes had a piece ( c. 13 minutes) on California's water problems, focusing on the San Joaquin Valley and the Bay Delta.
The Governator himself had a fair bit of face time, and was upbeat about finding a solution. Here he is expounding upon a water diet in a brief (one minute) video.
Here is a print version of Lesley Stahl's story.
Here is Emily Green's take, Hasta la Vista, 60 Minutes.
"People have died over water. You know, movies have been made about the wars of water in California."-- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, quoted in the story
I hope anyone watching the 60 minutes reporting on the current California water dilemma was not expecting some in-depth tenacious reporting…? What they got was the usual “fluff” associated with 60 minutes and an opportunity for Arnold to get “face-time” for whatever his new political office will be. I found this 60 minutes interview even a bit “fluffier” than many and was I totally ignorant about some of California’s water issues, I would not have learned anything of substance save California was a water problem and Arnold means to solve it, but not actually reveal his solution, which is typical of any politician. I was not surprised by the reporting, were you…?
